Beschrijving voorzijde Notgeld issue printed in purple and green on cream paper, divided into three vertical panels. The left and right panels each bear the large denomination numeral '50' above the word 'Pfennig' in Gothic script, set against a lined underprint within a decorated border. The central vignette presents a colour lithograph of a medieval church tower with flanking trees, signed 'H. Ohiebel 21.' in the upper margin. The lower portion carries two blocks of Gothic text split across the left and right panels, with two facsimile signatures and the issuing authority line 'Notgeld der Stadt Brehna' running the full width of the bottom border.

Beschrijving keerzijde Printed in warm ochre and dark brown on cream paper, the reverse is divided into three vertical panels. The central panel presents two portrait vignettes side by side — Dr. Martin Luther on the left and Katharina von Bora on the right — rendered in a bold woodcut style, with their names inscribed beneath in Gothic script and a caption noting that Katharina von Bora resided at the Brehna convent for approximately four years (c. 1504–08). Below the portraits, a panoramic townscape vignette shows the skyline of Brehna with church spires. The flanking panels carry quotations in Gothic script from the Tischreden (Table Talk, p. 314), with the artist's imprint 'H. Schiebel – Bitterfeld. 1921.' at the foot of the note.
