Beschrijving voorzijde A central vignette enclosed within an ornate gilt cartouche portrays a female figure in traditional regional costume standing before a large tree, with gravestones or figures visible in the background. The title banner at the top reads "Gemeinde Scheeßel" in Gothic script, flanked on each side by dark blue oval medallions bearing the denomination "50" in gold. Decorative floral borders with sunflowers, tulip-shaped urns, and foliage fill the lateral margins, while the lower portion carries the municipality's arms, facsimile signatures, validity text, and the printer's imprint "DRUCK C.A. NICOLAUS, BREMEN."

Beschrijving keerzijde The centre of the reverse carries an oval vignette within a bold gilt frame, showing a horse-drawn plough working a flooded or marshy field with a lone farmer at the reins, evoking the local agricultural and moorland landscape. A beehive motif crowns the cartouche, flanked by sheaves of grain tied with blue ribbons at either side. The denomination "50" appears in gold at left and right, the place-name "Scheeßel" is inscribed on a green ribbon banner at the top, and a scroll banner below bears a Low German dialect verse. A light floral underprint covers the entire field.

Opmerkingen

Scheeßel is a small municipality in the Rotenburg district of Lower Saxony, and this note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept German towns in 1921 — when chronic small-coin shortages, postwar inflation pressures, and a near-complete absence of Reichsbank subsidiary currency forced even minor communities to print their own emergency pfennig denominations. C. A. Nicolaus of Bremen was a regional commercial printer, not a specialist banknote firm, which accounts for the utilitarian execution typical of Lower Saxon municipal issues from this period.
