Husbyholz is a small settlement in Schleswig, a region that had just passed through the 1920 plebiscite dividing the duchy between Denmark and Germany. This note was issued the following year, when the Reichsbank's chronic shortage of small-denomination coinage forced thousands of German municipalities — including the most obscure rural communities — to print their own emergency fractional currency.
