正面描述 The obverse is printed in black, blue, and yellow on cream paper, with a bold decorative border enclosing the central design. Two oval vignettes at left and right contain architectural views of Döbeln — the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) and the Nicolaikirche (St. Nicholas Church) respectively — each flanked by stylized armored knights rendered in an Art Nouveau-expressionist manner. The city coat of arms, a red castle on a white shield, is centered between the vignettes, beneath the large Gothic-script heading 'Stadt Notgeld von Döbeln.' The denomination '50 Pfg.' appears at upper left and right, with the date 'Döbeln 1. Sept. 1921,' validity line 'Gültig bis 30. September 1921,' the signature of the Stadtrat, and a serial number below.

备注

Döbeln's 1921 Kleingeldscheine issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency money — Notgeld produced not from wartime chaos but from a genuine coin shortage caused by postwar hoarding and metal speculation. By 1921, hundreds of Saxon towns were commissioning local print shops to fill the gap, and Ratsdruckerei R. Dulce in Glauchau handled a number of these small regional contracts.

The Dulce imprint is worth noting: unlike the prestige Notgeld printed by large Leipzig or Berlin firms for collector sales, this was a functional municipal print job, done cheaply and quickly for actual use in local commerce.
