Descrizione del dritto The obverse is set against a dark underprint with mauve-toned header and footer panels. At centre, the municipal coat of arms of Lübbecke — a red shield bearing two crossed keys above a six-pointed star, surmounted by a crenellated golden tower and encircled by a green oak-leaf wreath — dominates the design. Denomination numerals '50' appear in blue within circular guilloche cartouches to the left and right, with the legend 'Pfennig' below each, while the header carries the title 'Gutschein der Stadt Lübbecke i.W.' and the footer bears the redemption clause, issuance date 'Juli 1921', serial number, and a manuscript signature for Der Magistrat.

Descrizione del rovescio The reverse presents a polychrome genre vignette at centre showing two Westphalian men in traditional regional dress standing before a farm cart and a rural settlement, rendered in a folkish illustrative style with a warm yellow sky. Narrow vertical panels to the left and right carry symbolic tools — a flax comb and a weaving shuttle — printed in blue. Corner cartouches in yellow and red repeat the denomination '50' at each angle, and a large text block below the vignette reproduces a stanza from the Westfalenlied, beginning 'Wir haben keine süßen Reden...'

Lübbecke was a small market town in the Ravensberger Land, and its 1921 Notgeld issue was entirely typical of the municipal small-change crisis that followed the post-WWI coin shortage. German cities, towns, and even individual businesses flooded the market with emergency pfennig denominations between 1919 and 1922 — well over 100,000 distinct types were issued nationwide. Gustav Heynke, operating under the Kanne & Kühne imprint in Detmold, was a regional printer serving numerous Westphalian municipalities during this period.

Lübbecke's series is not among the philatelically glamorous Notgeld issues collected for artistic merit. It was functional small change, printed cheaply and redeemed quickly once Reichsbank policy eventually stabilized fractional coin supply — at least briefly, before hyperinflation made the whole exercise moot by late 1922.
