A solid black panel at left bears the date inscription 'Geschehen Anno 1639', while a matching text panel at right narrates the historical episode of Martin Rinkart leading his congregation to the Nicolaikirche following failed negotiations with Swedish General Derfflinger. |

Eilenburg's 50 Pfennig notgeld from 1921 was issued by the town magistrate during the acute small-change shortage that plagued Germany in the early Weimar years — a period when municipal and commercial issuers numbered in the thousands and individual series often ran to dozens of variants. The suffix range in the Pick-style reference (.2 through .4 and .6) suggests multiple printing runs or color variants within the same design, which is characteristic of Eilenburg's notgeld output and explains why collectors frequently encounter incomplete sets.
