Ludwig Jahn', set against a pink guilloche ground and framed by a decorative teal cartouche. Flanking the portrait are two columns of Gothic-script text with gymnastic aphorisms, while silhouette figures of gymnasts in athletic dress stand at the left and right margins against a pale blue ground, with the municipal cross emblem visible at the top centre between stylised foliage. The denomination '50 Pfg.' appears in red corner panels, the Notgeld title and issuing municipality 'Ritterhude' are inscribed in bold Gothic lettering across the upper register, and the date 'Ritterhude, den 15 Mai 1921' with serial number and a manuscript signature of the Gemeindevorsteher appear along the lower border.
