| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a central vignette of the Marktkirche (town church) of Lage rendered in fine line engraving against a muted green background, its tall Gothic steeple rising above the nave and flanking trees. Symmetrical decorative side panels in the Art Nouveau style frame the composition on both left and right, each incorporating a circular cartouche with the red denomination numeral '50' and stylised foliate ornaments with red accents. Below the vignette, a two-line quotation from Goethe is set in Gothic Fraktur script, and the header banner repeats the issuer name. A small printer's imprint 'DRUCK: GUNDLACH, BIELEFELD.' appears in the upper-right margin. |

| Opmerkingen |
Lage is a small town in the Lippe region, and like hundreds of comparable municipalities in 1921, it issued emergency currency — Notgeld — to address the acute coin shortage that followed Germany's postwar economic dislocation. The Gundlach press in Bielefeld handled a significant volume of regional Notgeld work during this period, supplying neighboring towns and districts across Westphalia and Lippe with competently printed small-denomination paper.
The three-signature block is notable for a 50 Pfennig municipal note — most comparable issues carried one or two — suggesting the city required multiple municipal officers to authorize disbursement, a procedural quirk that varied from issuer to issuer with no standardization across the Notgeld system.
