Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse is a colourful lithographed design centred on a large stylised numeral '50' within a blue rectangular panel, with a ribbon scroll inscribed 'Pfennig' wound around the denomination. A decorative banner above carries the issuer's name in Gothic script. Three heraldic shields are arranged across the upper portion — a yellow field with two blue lions at left, a red field with a white cockerel at centre, and a red field with a white edelweiss-style emblem at right — set against a green landscape vignette with a bridge. The lower register contains the date and place of issue, the expiry notice, and a facsimile signature of the Gemeindevorsteher (community headman), all in Gothic letterpress.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse carries a central colour landscape vignette signed 'Lahmer' in the lower left corner, portraying the River Alster near Poppenbüttel with meandering water, reed-lined banks, pollard willows, and a village with red-roofed houses in the background. The caption 'ALSTER BEI POPPENBÜTTEL.' appears immediately below the vignette. Decorative lateral borders in grey with diamond and cross lattice patterns frame the composition, with denomination numerals '50 PF' in white Gothic figures at left and right. Two Low German verse couplets in Gothic script run across the upper and lower margins.
