| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a large central vignette in black and red, executed in an expressionist woodcut style and signed 'Jakob Willy', portraying armed combatants in close struggle amid a burning forest, with a tree bearing a heart-shaped carving inscribed 'Ober-Schlesien' at centre — an allegorical reference to the Upper Silesian uprisings. Vertical decorative panels in red and black with stylised foliage flank the composition on either side, each incorporating a denomination cartouche reading '50 Pf.' The overall design evokes the political and military strife surrounding the Upper Silesian plebiscite of 1921. |
