| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is organised into a central diamond-shaped vignette flanked by two triangular panels, all executed in full colour lithography against a geometric blue-and-white cube-pattern border. The central vignette shows VOIGTs Kur- und Badehaus, a half-timbered spa building set amid gardens under a night sky, with two comic foreground figures — a blacksmith and a cripple — accompanied by a Low German dialect dialogue caption; the flanking panels present further humorous scenes of patients travelling to and recovering at the establishment. The locality name "Heessen au/der Aue." is lettered in large display type across the top, with the printer's imprint "EDLER & KRISCHE, HANNOVER" at the foot. |

Heeßen is a small village in what is now the district of Hameln-Pyrmont, and its 1921 Notgeld issue is a minor but tidy example of the wave of municipal emergency currency that flooded Germany as coins disappeared from circulation in the postwar inflation years. Edler & Krische, a Hanover commercial printer with a solid reputation among municipal issuers, handled production — they were a go-to shop for lower Saxony communities during this period.
Rudolf Hillebrecht, credited as designer, would later become one of postwar Germany's more consequential urban planners, overseeing the reconstruction of Hanover after 1945. His work on small Notgeld commissions like this predates that career entirely.
