| Descrizione del dritto | Blue-toned notgeld printed in two panels divided by an ornamental guilloche border. The left panel carries the large numeral '50' as the denomination value, a serial number at upper left, a four-line poetic inscription in Gothic blackletter script, and validity text issued by the Magistrat of Harzgerode dated 7 July 1921, with a manuscript signature below; the issuer name 'Silberhütte' appears in large Gothic lettering at foot. The right vignette shows a miner in full gear standing beside a pithead structure with the miners' salutation 'Glück auf!' inscribed above, the whole printed by Louis Koch, Halberstadt. |

Harzgerode is a small town in the Harz region of Saxony-Anhalt, and this note belongs to the enormous wave of municipal Notgeld issued across Germany in 1921 as the postwar inflation began outrunning the Reichsbank's ability to supply small-denomination coinage. Hundreds of German towns contracted local and regional printers for these emergency issues, and Louis Koch of Halberstadt — a short distance north of the Harz — handled several such commissions in the area.
The DeNG reference places this within a numbered series for Harzgerode, meaning multiple design types exist for the same issuer and denomination.
