Obverse description Letterpress Notgeld note in yellow and dark olive-green, with a geometric guilloche underprint of interlocking circles and star motifs across the central field. A diagonal ribbon banner carries the bold inscription UNIVERSITÄTS-STADT JENA, flanked by vertical panels each bearing a crowned heraldic vignette of the city arms with a Madonna figure. The large denomination numeral 50 with PF. below is centred, with validity clause text to either side and the issue date of 9 May 1921 with facsimile signatures of the Oberbürgermeister and Gemeinderat Vorsitzender at the foot.
