Beschrijving voorzijde The vignette is rendered in a bold Expressionist woodcut style with an orange and black colour scheme. Two large demonic figures — each with horns and claws — flank a central arched cartouche bearing the coloured municipal arms of Thale, with an owl perched in the trees at upper left and a green frog at lower right; a serpent winds between the figures at centre. The lower panel carries the denomination value of 50 Pfennig in octagonal cartouches at each corner, with the validity clause and the Bürgermeister's printed facsimile signature in Fraktur script between them.

Opmerkingen

Thale am Harz sits at the mouth of the Bode valley in the eastern Harz, and its 1921 Notgeld issue belongs to the enormous wave of municipal emergency currency that flooded Germany during the postwar coin shortage. Louis Koch of Halberstadt was a regional commercial printer, not a specialist banknote house, and the quality of his Notgeld output varies considerably across municipalities he served.

The .15e suffix in the DeNG reference denotes a specific variant within the 1320 series — likely a color or paper distinction from otherwise identical printings.
