Quedlinburg's 1921 Notgeld issues were produced locally by H. Meyerding, a printer based in the same town — an arrangement common in smaller German municipalities during the inflationary spiral of the early Weimar period, when central bank currency was hoarded and towns scrambled to meet everyday transaction demand. The result was often idiosyncratic design and variable print quality, since these firms were commercial printers by trade, not security specialists.
The reference suffix "1c" indicates a recognized color or paper variant within the series, suggesting Meyerding ran the job in multiple passes or batches — not unusual when a town reordered stock as the original pressing ran out.
