Beschrijving voorzijde The note is divided into three vertical panels against a green foliate underprint. The central panel carries the municipal coat of arms of Zerbst — a red crenellated gateway with five towers above a divided escutcheon — set within a dark oval wreath, with the legend GUTSCHEIN and a printed serial number below. The left panel displays a vignette of a medieval armoured knight standing within a Romanesque arch, flanked by stylised vegetables, with the denomination 50 Pfg in red at upper left; the right panel mirrors this composition with a female figure in traditional dress beneath a matching arch, the denomination repeated at upper right. The lower margin bears the validity clause and date Zerbst, den 1. Juli 1921 with a facsimile magistrate signature, and the printer's imprint LOUIS KOCH – HALBERSTADT below the frame.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is composed of two lateral landscape vignettes separated by a bold central motif of a large stylised letter form with a tessellated stone pattern, against which an onion plant is rendered on the left and a cucumber on the right — referencing Zerbst's traditional market-garden produce. The left vignette presents the Frauentor (Ladies' Gate) of Zerbst as seen from the interior around 1750, a round stone tower with a domed cap and adjoining walls; the right vignette shows the same gate from the exterior. Denomination numerals 50 appear in red and black at the upper corners, and the lower margin carries the town name ZERBST in Gothic script at left and i. Anhalt at right within a rectangular cartouche.
