| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in blue-grey on cream paper, the left panel carries the elaborately detailed municipal coat of arms of Harzgerode — a towered castle flanked by foliate supporters — above the town name in bold block lettering, with the serial number at top and the printer's imprint at the foot. A vertical ornamental guilloche band with circular rosettes separates the left vignette from the right panel, which bears a four-line verse inscription at top, the large bold denomination numeral '50' at centre, and below it the validity clause, issuing authority, date, and a manuscript signature of the Magistrat. |

Harzgerode is a small town in the Harz region of Saxony-Anhalt, and this note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept German municipalities in 1921 as postwar inflation made official coinage effectively disappear from circulation. The Magistrat — the town's administrative council — had the authority to issue emergency fractional notes locally, and contracting Louis Koch in nearby Halberstadt was the practical choice. Koch was a regional printer, not a specialist banknote firm, which shows in the modest production values typical of provincial Notgeld.
The DeNG reference places this within the third subtype of the 582 series, suggesting at least minor design or printing variants exist for this issue.
