| 正面描述 | The note is divided into three vertical panels within a bold black border. The left panel carries the large red numeral '50' over an olive-green vertical-line underprint, with validity text 'Giltig bis 1.2.1922. Einlösbar bei der Stadtkasse.' below. The central panel presents a woodcut-style vignette of two standing medieval figures flanking a stylized letter 'T', with 'Notgeld' inscribed in red below. The right panel bears the denomination abbreviation 'Pfg' in red and the issuing authority legend 'Magistrat der Stadt Treffurt a.d. Werra, den 1.6.1921.' with a facsimile signature beneath; above and below the entire composition run Gothic-script rhyming couplet inscriptions. |

| 背面描述 | The reverse is printed in black and golden-yellow on a cream ground and presents a central rectangular vignette of the ruined Normannstein castle rendered in a bold woodcut style, with rocky hillside terrain in the foreground. To the left and right of the central vignette stand full-length figures of wanderers in period costume printed in yellow. The denomination '50 Pfg' appears in large yellow Gothic numerals flanking the castle vignette, while the header reads '11. Normannstein Jahrh.' and a four-line verse inscription at the foot reads 'Die Burg in ihrer Eigenart Ist Ziel der Wandervogel-Fahrt.' |

Treffurt is a small town on the Werra river in Thuringia, and its municipal authority issued this 50 Pfennig note during the Kleingeldersatz crisis of the early 1920s, when coin shortages drove hundreds of German municipalities to print their own emergency fractional currency — Notgeld. Chr. Gerlach of Mühlhausen was a regional printer that handled a number of such commissions across Thuringia, keeping costs low and turnaround fast for smaller issuing bodies who couldn't access larger printing houses.
M. E. Beyrer's design credit is worth noting — named designers on Notgeld of this denomination are not universal, suggesting the Magistrat took some interest in presentation rather than simply procuring the cheapest available stock.
