Der Magistrat:
Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a central street-scene vignette of the 'Am Hungerturm' lane in Grünberg, rendered in a fine letterpress illustration with a church steeple rising against a blue starlit sky, flanked by traditional townhouses along a cobblestone street. To the left stands a female allegorical figure in classical drapery carrying a basket, while to the right a male labourer bears a plank or board, with small denomination shields bearing '50' positioned above each figure. The denomination is spelled out in bold Gothic lettering at the lower margin: 'Fünfzig Pfennig'.

Opmerkingen

Grünberg — now Zielona Góra in western Poland — was a regional wine and textile center when this Notgeld was issued in 1921, well into the postwar coin famine that pushed hundreds of German municipalities into printing their own emergency fractional currency. Julius Fiedler Nachfolger was a local printing house, meaning this note was produced entirely within the town it was meant to circulate in, an arrangement that was common but not universal in the Notgeld wave.

Silesian municipal issues from this period were rendered obsolete quickly — hyperinflation made fractional Pfennig denominations worthless within two years of issue, and most were never redeemed.
