| Obverse description | The upper portion carries a central octagonal vignette enclosing the municipal coat of arms of Heldburg — a red tower surmounted by a rampant golden lion — set within a laurel wreath, flanked on either side by allegorical putti figures bearing garlands of fruit against a dark crosshatched background. Below, a gold panel bears the Gothic-script legends identifying this as Notgeld of the Stadt Heldburg, with the validity clause and date, while the denomination "Fünfzig Pfennig" appears in red Gothic lettering within framed cartouches at lower left and right. Two manuscript signatures appear in the lower centre above the printed designations i.Bürgermeister and Stadtkämmerer, with the printer's imprint of Schneider & Co., Ilmenau i.Thür. at the very foot. |
