正面描述 The obverse is divided into a central white panel flanked on both sides by a bold geometric underprint pattern of interlocking squares and circles repeated in black on a tan ground, with the denomination numeral '50' scattered throughout the side panels. The upper portion of the central panel carries the denomination in blackletter script 'Fünfzig 50 Pfennig', with the large '50' printed in blue-green, and below it the validity clause 'Gültig bis 30. Sept. 1921' over the issuing authority legend 'DER MAGISTRAT' with two manuscript facsimile signatures. A central inset vignette presents a finely engraved view of Eilenburg Castle atop a rocky wooded hill, with the inscription 'NOTGELD' at lower left, 'EILENBURG' at bottom centre, and 'DER STADT' at lower right.

备注

Eilenburg's 1921 emergency coinage — Notgeld in the strictest sense — was issued by the town magistracy during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany as postwar inflation began dismantling the Reichsmark's purchasing power. Municipal authorities across Saxony issued their own fractional paper during this period precisely because Reichsbank coin simply vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted the moment metal values outpaced face values.

Eilenburg, a small industrial town on the Mulde river northeast of Leipzig, printed several denominations in this series. The 50 Pfennig was the highest fractional value before the hyperinflation notes of 1922–23 made such modest scrip instantly obsolete.
