Mücheln is a small town in Saxony-Anhalt, best known today for the open-cast lignite mining that eventually swallowed much of its original townscape. This 50 Pfennig note belongs to the vast wave of German municipal Kleingeldscheine issued in the early 1920s, when chronic coin shortages — driven first by wartime metal demands and then by postwar economic dislocation — forced thousands of towns to print their own fractional currency. Adolf Forker was a Leipzig commercial printer who handled a significant volume of these municipal commissions across central Germany.
