Obverse description A colourful lithographed vignette of the Schöppenstedt townscape stretches across the centre, with the Gothic church tower rising above a row of red-roofed half-timbered buildings, all framed by a bold semicircular arch bearing the town name. The German national colours — black, red, and gold — appear as radiating banner stripes in the background, and the denomination "50 Pfennige 50" is rendered in large decorative script across the top. The lower margin carries the validity inscription in block lettering, while the artist's name appears at the bottom left and right edges.

Reverse description A woodcut-style vignette in red, black, and gold occupies the upper portion, depicting a group of robed and bewigged councillors or judges assembled in formal session, with a presiding official at the right standing before an ornate lectern. A decorative gilt frieze runs along the base of the figures, and the lower panel contains a dense black-and-white ornamental border with stylised foliate and architectural motifs. The entire composition is enclosed within a double dotted-rule rectangular frame.
