| 裏面の説明 | Green and black note with the denomination '50 Pfennig 50' in large bold letterpress across the top. A central oval vignette presents a detailed view of the Herzlake townscape, with the prominent spire of the parish church rising on the left, a row of typical Lower Saxon houses lining a village street, and trees and open sky in the background; the place name 'Herzlake.' is inscribed within the vignette. Decorative scalloped guilloche borders frame the oval, with scrollwork ornaments in the lower corners. |

Herzlake is a small parish municipality in the Emsland district of Lower Saxony, and this 50 Pfennig note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept German local administrations between 1919 and 1922 — a direct consequence of the Reichsbank's inability to maintain adequate small-denomination coinage in circulation after the war. Franz Lammersdorf in nearby Haselünne was a regional printer serving several Emsland communities during this period, which accounts for the shared production characteristics visible across multiple DeNG-catalogued issues from this corner of Niedersachsen.
The .1-2/4 suffix in the DeNG reference indicates at least two known varieties within this issue.
