Rehburg is a small spa town in Lower Saxony, and like hundreds of similarly modest German municipalities, its savings bank issued emergency small-change notes — Kleingeldscheine — during the severe coin shortage of the early Weimar years. The Appelhans press in Braunschweig handled a considerable volume of this regional notgeld work, supplying towns across Lower Saxony with competently printed but essentially utilitarian scrip.
The DeNG reference distinguishes three sub-varieties (1-3/8), most likely reflecting date or serial differences within the same basic printing run.
