正面铭文 NOTGELD der STECKLENBERG i.m. OSTHARZ
50 Pfennig
STECKLENBERG den 1 Juli 1921
Gültig bis Aufruf
der Gemeinde-Vorstand:
Weißborn
背面描述 The reverse is printed in full colour and presents a picturesque landscape vignette of the ruins of Stecklenburg castle, rendered in a painterly style with ochre and rose masonry towers rising above dense green foliage beneath a pale blue sky. The scene is framed by a rustic border of intertwined branches with oak leaves, from which the denomination numerals '50' appear in the upper left and upper right corners. A decorative scroll cartouche at the foot of the vignette bears the caption 'Ruine Stecklenburg' in Gothic script.

备注

Stecklenberg is a village in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt, population in the hundreds. Like thousands of German municipalities in 1921, it issued Notgeld to address the chronic small-change shortage that had plagued everyday commerce since the war. The Weißborn signature almost certainly belongs to a local administrative official — a Bürgermeister or treasurer — rather than a banking authority, which was entirely normal for municipal emergency issues of this period.

Harz-region Notgeld from this year was often printed in small runs and rapidly absorbed into local circulation, which means surviving examples were typically saved by collectors from the outset rather than genuinely used.
