Obverse description The central vignette presents a detailed letterpress illustration of the Wilhelmshütte industrial works, a large factory complex with a tall smokestack set against a hilly landscape, enclosed within an ornate cartouche with foliate scroll borders in ochre and black. Denomination panels reading "FÜNFZIG / 50 / PFENNIG" appear at the left and right margins in black on a white ground, while a cream-toned arabesque underprint covers the entire field. The issuing authority "Gräfenroda" and date "1. August 1921" are inscribed at the lower left, with the manuscript signature of the Gemeindevorstand (Brell) at the lower right; validity notice in red gothic script runs across the upper margin.

Reverse description The reverse carries a central vignette illustrating glassblowers at work in a factory interior, with multiple workers manipulating long blowpipes before furnaces and finished glassware — bottles and flasks — arranged in the foreground. Flanking side panels in black and red each display a vignette of glass vessels and laboratory apparatus, with denomination numerals "50" in red at all four corners within green-bordered cartouches. The heading "NOTGELD GRÄFENRODA" is printed in bold black gothic type across the top, and the denomination "Fünfzig Pfennig" is rendered in large black script lettering along the lower margin.
