Obverse description Brown and black letterpress vignette of the Nördlingen town skyline, centred in the upper portion of the note, with the tall Gothic tower of St. Georg's Church rising above the rooftops; a bold arched ornamental border frames the panorama above. Below the vignette, a brown rectangular panel bears the issuer inscription in large bold type, flanked on each side by smaller panels carrying the denomination in words; a facsimile signature of the Rechtsk. Bürgermeister appears beneath the issuer text. Denomination numerals '50' are printed in the upper left and upper right corners within the overall decorative dotted border.

Reverse description Brown and black letterpress design centred on an ornate architectural framework of two decorative pilasters or console brackets flanking a central text panel with a wavy-line guilloche underprint. The central cartouche carries a poetic German verse addressed to the wanderer, followed by the issue date and validity clause; a serial number is printed in large bold numerals at the foot of the central panel. Corner letters 'O.' and 'G.' appear at the upper left and right within the outer dotted border.
