备注

Dommitzsch is a small Elbe river town in Saxony, and like hundreds of similarly sized German municipalities, it issued Notgeld in 1920 to address the chronic shortage of small-denomination coinage that had plagued everyday commerce since the war years. The Reichsbank could not keep up with demand; local authorities filled the gap themselves, often with whatever printer was nearest.

These municipal 50 Pfennig pieces were typically printed in short runs, redeemed quickly, and discarded — survival in any quantity is more a function of collector hoarding at the time than of genuine rarity.
