Vi har stemt den 10. Februar
Sagen er for os hel klar
En Tiedje-Linie kender vi ikke
Vi har faaet nok "Ersatz" at drikke.
Magister Clausen gesteh's nur ein,
Deine Linie ist nicht fein
Du griffst zu weit hinab nach Süden
Die Tiedje-Linie nur bringt Frieden.

Tingleff — Tinglev in Danish — sits in the Schleswig region, whose postwar fate was determined not by military defeat alone but by plebiscite. The March 1920 vote split the territory along linguistic lines, with the northern zone returning to Denmark and the southern zone, including Tingleff, remaining German. This note was issued directly in that window of administrative uncertainty, when municipal scrip plugged the gaps left by a currency system in transition and a local economy absorbing the shock of a redrawn border.

L. Thaysen's name on a note printed in a town that would remain German is a small irony — Thaysen is a Danish surname common precisely in this contested strip of land.
