Denomination numeral '50' appears in red within hexagonal guilloche frames at left and right, flanked by garlands of red cherries in allusion to the city's traditional Kirschfest. The lower field carries a two-line redemption text in Fraktur letterpress, two manuscript authorisation signatures, a serial number, and an issue-year panel inscribed '1920' at upper left with series letter 'F' at upper right. |

Naumburg an der Saale issued this 50 Pfennig Notgeld in 1920 as part of the nationwide municipal emergency currency wave that followed Germany's postwar coin shortage. The printer, Daum & Schwarz, was based in Lindenberg im Allgäu — a small Bavarian town that became, improbably, one of the more prolific Notgeld printers of the period, supplying municipalities far outside its region.
Naumburg's series was among the more restrained civic issues of the era, produced for genuine transactional use rather than the collectible "Serienscheine" sets that many cities cynically printed for philatelic revenue.
