| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is printed on a salmon-toned paper ground and carries a bold black header panel inscribed 'Notgeld Cosel O/Schl.' in large Gothic lettering. Flanking a central heraldic vignette of the Cosel municipal coat of arms — rendered with elaborate baroque scrollwork and mantling — are two denomination cartouches, each reading '50 PFENNIGE' within a ruled border. Below, a three-line text states the obligation of the Stadtkasse to pay the bearer, followed by the place and date inscription 'COSEL O./SCHL., im Juni 1920.' and a manuscript facsimile signature of Der Magistrat: P. Reimann. |

Cosel — now Koźle, in present-day Poland — issued this note during the plebiscite period that followed the Treaty of Versailles, when Upper Silesia's political fate was formally undecided and local Notgeld proliferated to cover a severe coin shortage. The March 1921 plebiscite ultimately voted for Germany, though the region was subsequently partitioned by the League of Nations in 1922, with Cosel remaining on the German side until 1945.
Julius Fiedler Nachfolger operated out of Grünberg in Lower Silesia, a regional printer responsible for a number of municipal emergency issues from this period. The Reimann signature identifies a local administrative signatory rather than a bank official.
