Obverse description The obverse is printed in blue, ochre, and brown on cream paper, framed by a decorative border of interlocking geometric ornaments. At the top, the denomination and issuer appear in bold letterpress: '50 STADT LAUFEN 50'. To the left, the coloured municipal coat of arms of Laufen is set within an ornate cartouche, while to the right a smaller Bavarian heraldic shield occupies a matching vignette; the lower-right quadrant contains a line-engraved vignette of a domed church tower amid foliage. The central panel carries the validity text in stylised Gothic lettering, dated 'LAUFEN, 20.X.1920', with the manuscript signature of the Stadtrat official 'Fuchs' below, and the blue numeral '50 PFENNIG' block in the lower-left corner.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in ochre and dark brown on cream paper within a dotted rectangular border. The denomination '50 PFENNIG 50' is set in bold type across the top corners. A large central oval vignette, framed by a chain-link border, presents a panoramic line-engraved view of Laufen an der Salzach as seen from across the river, with the town's prominent Gothic collegiate church dominating the skyline. Flanking the oval on each side are tall decorative cornucopia-style floral torchères in ochre. A ribbon scroll at the base of the oval bears the inscription 'STADT LAUFEN A.S.', and a red serial number is overprinted across the lower portion of the vignette.
