Eutin's 50 Pfennig Notgeld from 1920 is unexceptional as a type — thousands of German municipalities issued small-denomination emergency paper during the chronic coin shortage that followed the First World War. What makes this particular entry worth a second look is the printed date of 30 April 1945, which is almost certainly a cataloging or typographical error: that date falls at the absolute end of the Third Reich, a moment when the Magistrat der Stadt Eutin had considerably more pressing concerns than reprinting Weimar-era Notgeld.
