| Obverse description | Plain cream paper note enclosed within a serrated rectangular border, with the denomination numeral '50' printed in large bold type at both upper corners. The central text, in letterpress, reads 'FÜNFZIG PFENNIG' across the top, followed by 'zahlt die STADT MANNHEIM' and the issue date clause 'vom 1. Oktober 1920 ab bei Übergabe dieses Scheines'. A red typeset serial number appears in the centre, below which the issuing authority 'DER STADTRAT' is printed, accompanied by a manuscript signature. An embossed circular municipal seal of Mannheim is visible to the lower left, and a three-line redemption notice in small type occupies the lower portion of the note. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is unprinted and shows a plain cream paper surface. The show-through of the obverse letterpress text is faintly visible, and an embossed circular municipal seal — the same as that on the obverse — is discernible in relief toward the right-centre of the note, confirming the dry-stamp applied through both sides. |
