| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is dominated by a large Gothic blackletter inscription reading 'Notgeld der Stadt Detmold' above the municipal coat of arms at centre, rendered in red and grey on a cream field, showing a fortified tower gateway with a six-petalled rose in red. Denomination numerals '50 Pf.' appear in shield-shaped cartouches at lower left and right, flanked by decorative red and grey foliate border panels in an Art Nouveau manner. The lower portion carries the serial number at left, a red-printed text block stating the redemption conditions, and two manuscript signatures above the printed issuer designation 'Der Magistrat'. |

| Opmerkingen |
Detmold's 1920 Notgeld issues were produced during the peak of Germany's municipal emergency currency wave, when thousands of towns commissioned their own small-denomination notes to compensate for a chronic shortage of coin. The Ratsdruckerei R. Dulce in Glauchau was a mid-tier regional printer that handled a considerable volume of these municipal contracts — workmanlike output, nothing exceptional technically.
Detmold sits in the Teutoburg Forest region of what was then Lippe, a small Free State that retained nominal independence until 1933. The city issued through its own municipal authority rather than through a savings bank or chamber of commerce, which was common enough but worth noting for attribution purposes.
