| 裏面の説明 | The reverse carries a full-panel colour vignette in a painterly style illustrating the Bayertor, the late-Gothic city gate of Landsberg am Lech, viewed frontally along a wide approach flanked by autumn-toned trees rendered in warm ochre and russet against a blue-grey sky. The tall crenellated tower with its Gothic tracery and arched gateway dominates the composition. A lower panel below the vignette bears the caption 'BAYERTOR', with the denomination '50 PFENNIG' to the left and the Kriegsnotgeld attribution 'KRIEGSNOTGELD DER BAYR. STADT LANDSBERG A/LECH' to the right. |

German municipal emergency money — Notgeld — flooded the economy from 1914 onward as coin shortages worsened and the Reichsbank struggled to keep small denominations in circulation. Landsberg am Lech, a mid-sized Bavarian market town, issued its own scrip through the Stadtmagistrat like hundreds of other municipalities, filling the gap the central authority could not.
1918 issues are among the more historically loaded: printed in the final year of the war, many were still circulating when the armistice came and the political order collapsed entirely. Redemption was not always guaranteed.
