| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is divided into two vertical panels on a grey-blue ground. The left panel carries a polychrome chromolithographic vignette set within an ornate Art Nouveau foliate arch: a robed, bearded Father Christmas figure walks through snow, carrying a basket of toys on his back and accompanied by a small doll-like child at his side. The right panel contains the denomination value "50 Pf." in red within a gold and black ornamental cartouche, the written value "Fünfzig Pfennig" in large red Gothic lettering below, and a serial number printed in black within a rectangular grey underprint box at the foot. |

| Opmerkingen |
Neustadt in Sachsen-Coburg — not to be confused with the several dozen other German towns sharing the name — issued this Kriegsgeld note in 1918 as municipal small change, the pfennig coinage it replaced having been withdrawn for metal recycling well before the war's end. The Stadtrat had legal authority to issue such emergency currency under wartime provisions that allowed local bodies to fill the fractional currency gap left by the Reichsbank's retreat from low-denomination coinage.
Paper Notgeld at this denomination from smaller Saxon-Coburg municipalities tends to survive in quantity — most saw little hard use before being superseded by the inflationary issues of 1921–1923.
