| 表面の説明 | Three heraldic vignettes arranged horizontally across the upper portion of the note: at left, the arms of the Bishop of Constance with helmet, mitre, and shield; at centre, a rampant black hound on a white field within a wreath border, with the large denomination numeral '50' in red and gold scrollwork beneath; at right, the quartered coat of arms of the Kingdom of Württemberg surmounted by a crown. Below the central vignette appears a manuscript signature of the Stadtschultheiss (mayor), flanked by validity and redemption texts. A serial number is printed at lower right. |

Tettnang's 1918 emergency issue belongs to the first wave of German municipal notgeld, produced as small-denomination coins vanished from circulation amid wartime hoarding and metal requisitions. The town — a small administrative center in Württemberg, better known for its hop cultivation than its financial history — issued these notes under the same legal pressures driving hundreds of German municipalities to print their own fractional currency that year.
Early 1918 notgeld was purely utilitarian, lacking the elaborate local imagery that characterized the collector-targeted issues of 1920–1921. Tettnang did not return for a second series.
