正面描述 Printed in purple and black on plain paper, the obverse carries the Ahrweiler municipal coat of arms as a central vignette, surrounded by the denomination numeral '50' repeated in the upper corners. Black letterpress text states the voucher terms and issuing authority, with a black serial number and a red validation seal applied at lower left. The border is formed by a guilloche surround typical of German Notgeld issues of the period.

背面描述 The reverse is printed entirely in purple, with a guilloche rosette border running along all four edges. The Ahrweiler coat of arms appears as a large watermark-style underprint at center, over which four lines of black letterpress text state the redemption guarantee of the Stadtgemeinde Ahrweiler.

备注

Ahrweiler's 1918 Notgeld issues came at the height of the small-change crisis that swept German municipalities as metal coinage vanished into hoarding and wartime metal requisitions. M. Dumont Schauberg, a Cologne press better known for newspaper printing, produced a significant volume of Rhineland Notgeld during this period — their output is competent but rarely as elaborately engraved as notes from specialist security printers.

The watermarked paper is the detail worth noting here. Many municipal Notgeld issues of 1918 skipped security features entirely; the inclusion of a watermark suggests Ahrweiler's administration took counterfeiting risk seriously, or simply had access to appropriate stock through the printer.
