| Obverse description | Brown-toned notgeld on cream paper with a dark rectangular border enclosing ornamental corner rosettes each bearing the numeral 50. A bold black-letter title panel at the top reads 'Stadt Kempen Rhein', below which the denomination '50 Pfennig' is set in large Gothic script over an oval guilloche underprint centred on a spread-eagle vignette. The lower portion carries three lines of legal tender text in Fraktur script, a manuscript signature of the Bürgermeister to the right, the issuance place and date 'Kempen, Rh., den 30. August 1918' to the left, and a red circular city arms stamp applied over a serial number panel at the foot. |
