Comments

Stade's municipal notgeld was issued under the Magistrat during the prolonged small-change shortage that gripped Germany from the final war years well into the early Weimar period. Gebrüder Jänecke of Hannover — primarily a printing and ink manufacturing firm — handled considerable notgeld volume for Lower Saxon municipalities during this period, which accounts for a certain consistency of paper quality and typography across issues from the region.

The 1918–1921 date range is notably wide for a Kleingeldschein issue, suggesting reissue or extended validation rather than a single print run.
