Uruguay moved to polymer for its circulating series in stages, and the 50 Pesos Uruguayos on this substrate is part of that ongoing transition rather than a clean break — earlier cotton-paper versions of the denomination circulated alongside polymer issues during the changeover period. Oberthur Fiduciaire, which had already printed polymer notes for several Latin American central banks, produced the series in France.

Pick 102 is a recent enough issue that worn or damaged examples are unusual, though polymer notes in heavy circulation develop characteristic fold-cracking along wallet creases rather than the soft wear patterns of paper.
