Reverse description The reverse presents a dynamic equestrian figure of Saint James the Apostle (Santiago Matamoros), depicted in full stride on a rearing horse, his cape billowing behind him and a sword raised aloft in his right hand. A scallop shell, the traditional symbol of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, appears to the right of the central design. The date '1993' is inscribed in the lower field near the horse's hooves. The encircling legend reads '478 ANIV. FUNDACION STGO de CUBA' along the upper periphery and 'MILENIVM SANCTI · IACOBI' along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border.
