Additional information

Henry Morgan never set foot on Cuban soil as anything other than an enemy of its Spanish colonial administration — his 1668 sack of Portobelo and the 1671 destruction of Panama City made him the most disruptive force in Caribbean waters of his century. Cuba issuing a gold coin in his honor is a quietly subversive editorial, given that Morgan's raids directly destabilized the island's regional trade networks for years afterward.

The 1995 series of which this piece is part was produced for the international collector market, not domestic circulation.
