Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring the traditional escutcheon with a key, two promontories, and a rising sun, surmounted by the Phrygian cap on a pole and flanked by oak and laurel branches. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA curves along the upper periphery, while the face value 50 PESOS is inscribed along the lower border. Weight and fineness designations — 1/2 OZ and AU 0.999 — appear in the lateral fields to either side of the arms.
