| 裏面の説明 | A detailed architectural rendering of the Palau Sant Jordi (Palacio San Jorge), the multi-purpose sports arena designed by Arata Isozaki and constructed for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, occupies the central field. The bilingual designation PALAU SANT JORDI in Catalan and PALACIO SAN JORGE in Spanish appear as inscriptions in the lower half, separated by a dash. The curved legend AÑO DE ESPAÑA arcs along the upper portion of the design, flanked by the dual date 1992 - 1992, with a mintmark positioned above the central device. |

The Saint George Palace — Palacio de los Capitanes Generales in Havana — served as the seat of Spanish colonial government in Cuba from its completion in 1791 until the end of Spanish rule in 1898, after which it briefly housed the first U.S. military governor before becoming Havana's city hall. The 1992 Cuban silver program that produced this piece was issued during the "Special Period," the economic crisis triggered by the Soviet collapse, when the Cuban government was simultaneously rationing food domestically and striking five-ounce collector coins for hard currency export.
