Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, displaying the traditional design with a shield, Phrygian cap, oak and laurel branches, and a rising sun over a key between two rocky promontories. A curved legend reading 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' arcs across the upper periphery, while the face value '50 PESOS' appears below the arms. Weight and fineness inscriptions '1/2 OZ' and 'AU 0.999' flank the central device on either side. The entire design is bounded by a rope or cord border running close to the milled edge.
