正面描述 The Cuban national coat of arms is centrally displayed in the field, with the curved legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arching above along the upper periphery. The face value 50 PESOS and the fineness notation 5 OZ AG 0.999 appear below the arms. Two five-pointed stars flank the central device on either side. The upper border is framed by a rope motif, while the lower half of the periphery is decorated with a stylized indigenous geometric pattern.

附加信息

Hatuey was a Taíno chieftain who fled Hispaniola ahead of the Spanish conquest and spent his final years in eastern Cuba warning local communities of what was coming. Captured by Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar's forces around 1512, he was burned at the stake — and according to the account preserved by Bartolomé de las Casas, refused Christian baptism at the last moment on the grounds that he had no interest in a heaven populated by Spaniards.

Cuba adopted him as a proto-revolutionary martyr, a framing the Castro government leaned into heavily for its anti-imperialist symbolism. The Hatuey beer brand, founded in 1927 in Santiago de Cuba, had already made his face ubiquitous long before this coin was struck.
