| Opmerkingen |
The República de Chile contracted the American Bank Note Company for this series during a period when Chilean paper currency was severely strained by the consequences of the 1878 inconvertibility decree — a suspension of specie payments that stretched, with brief interruptions, well into the twentieth century. The ABNC's New York presses produced the physical notes, which were then shipped to Santiago for issue, a common arrangement for Latin American governments unable to sustain domestic security printing of sufficient quality.
The fifteen-year issue window for P#24 reflects not orderly reissue cycles but chronic monetary instability — the same plate stock serving a government that repeatedly delayed any return to a gold or silver standard.
